About this Tour

Protected area since 1972 then National Park from 2000, this very unique piece of nature is definitely worth to see while you are visiting Prague. As a part of Elbe Sandstone Mountains, it has many beautiful rock formations to see, including the famous Pravcicka Gate – the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe.

Another favorite spots are surely the Schauenstein Castle – former robber baron’s rock castle with it’s spectacular viewing platforms, Kamenice River Gorge – popular for it’s extraordinary boat tour, many other view points located on hiking trails throughout the whole park or even the romantic moss covered Dolsky Mill – popular location in many fairy tale movies.

The whole area of Elbe Sandstone Mountains on both sides of the river spans over 700km2 in size and together with high percentage of forestation and minimal population density, it is an absolutely unique biodiverse sandstone environment that has no parallel within the whole Europe.

Bohemian Switzerland NP is geographically connected over the border with the Saxony Switzerland NP in Germany and it is equally beautiful, so in case you would love to see both parts and extend this trip for two days, it is certainly doable – just go ahead and book this trip twice on two consecutive days and you’ll be all set. It is actually highly recommended by us because you will be able to see all the highlights of German’s table mountains like the Bastei Bridge, Königstein Fortress or Lilienstein and in general, this option gives you the ability to spend more time in this lovely area and focus more deeply on all individual sites.

Also in a season – usually from the June till beginning of September, it would be possible to visit a berry farm near Dresden with pretty playground and ability to pick variety of different berries straight to your mouth – so no need to say how popular this stop is among the kids 🙂

After meeting you at 9am at your hotel in Prague, we’ll be driving you north for about one hour and half to reach the town of Hrensko – our gateway to Bohemian Switzerland NP.

Once in Hrensko, we’ll take you first to experience an amazing boat trip through the Edmund Gorge and then a very scenic walk back alongside the river (approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes altogether).

After a short drive, we will arrive at the starting point of our first hike through this amazing NP -> towards famous Pravcicka Gate – the largest natural sandstone bridge in Europe. The hike itself takes approx. 40 minutes each way and we’ll spend some time up there, so you can soak up the beauty of this place, take a lot of pictures and even get some refreshment 😉

Now – most likely close to 2pm, we will drive another short distance and settle down for a nice lunch to recharge the energy after the hike 🙂 Once done, we will put ourselves on hike number two – a shorter one, this time we’ll go up to see the Schauenstein Castle with its spectacular views overlooking the whole national park. We should be departing at around 4:30pm, so you will be back to your hotel in Prague at around 6pm… we believe happy and full of remarkable memories 😉

Please note that we are very flexible as with every of our tours. This is just the suggested itinerary from our side and all the sites listed are pretty optional, so for example if you don’t want to do any of the hikes… it is absolutely fine 😉 Or maybe you’re not interested in a coffee stop or you would like to have something else for your lunch… fine too 😉 …we have always plan B, C or D in our pocket 🙂 You might be also interested to see some sites not mentioned here which is also fine as this is your day, you are on a private tour and we will always do our best to accommodate all your wishes – unless they’re unrealistic 🙂
