The old town divided into two parts by the river Vltava has been witnessing the history since the very first settlement of Slavic tribes in 4th century, still before The Migration Period.
One of the many fields where Prague really excels is it’s preservation of sites. Still today, you can admire the remains of Romanesque-style buildings from the 10th century at grounds of the Prague Castle – which is by the way with its 70 000m2 the largest coherent castle complex in the world, listed in Guinness Book of World Records.
Most iconic time of Prague is dating back to the middle of 14th century under our famous and most popular ruler – the King Charles IV, who let to build the magnificent Charles Bridge, St. Vitus Cathedral or established the Charles University – renowned institution ever since.
Prague was also known as a medieval capitol of science research and many famous figures lived their lives in here.
