About this Tour

Cesky Krumlov – the town that reaches to the skies above bend on the Vltava River is a fascination of almost intact history, pearl of Renaissance architecture and the place, where the sumptuousness of the local castle, richly decorated coats of arms of burgher’s houses and wonderful floral gardens are harmoniously interwoven. At the same time, it boasts medieval pubs, ale-houses and galleries. Perhaps due to hidden position in a remote corner of South Bohemia, its building development has been preserved with the original layout, material structure, interior installations and architectural details from the 14th to 19th century.

Thanks to its unique preserved medieval old town, Cesky Krumlov is listed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites since 1992 and for majority of travellers from all over the world, it is the most favourite place to visit in Czech Republic – right after the Prague 😉

Once you step in this well preserved and beautiful medieval town, we are sure that you will enjoy every minute of it as the feel and its atmosphere is like moving back in time by 600 years. After we reach up to the Renaissance/Baroque Castle built in 13th century, you’ll be rewarded by spectacular view of the old town and its winding river. We’ll be walking the labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets with many interesting galleries and museums that you’ll be able to sneak in along the way as well as numerous little local shops and cafes. Castle of Cesky Krumlov is with it’s 40 buildings and palaces situated on five castle’s courts and the park area of eleven hectares, one of the largest castle complex in Central Europe.

This tour is appropriate for everyone – it is even wheelchair accessible, just the portion of castle area and gardens is located on the top of the hill so count with a little bit of uphill walking but nothing strenuous 😉 We have always time for breaks if needed as we’re not rushing at all 😉

After meeting you up at 9am at your hotel in Prague, we’ll be driving you down south for about 2 hours before we reach the town Cesky Krumlov. For those of you who are not planning to take an inside tour of the castle in Cesky Krumlov, you have a chance to make an extra stop in one lovely South Bohemian village named Holasovice famous for its complex of houses build in so called “Rural Baroque” architecture and UNESCO listed since 1998. Great opportunity to sit for a coffee and try some of the local pastries 😉

Once in Cesky Krumlov, we’ll start our walking tour of this amazing town so our guide will take you through the most beautiful parts of it, giving you a lot of information from the history at the same time. We’ll be covering both medieval sides connected with few bridges and also the upper castle area – together with its gardens, when in a season and if you will like to 😉

Whether you decided to make the morning stop in Holasovice village or join the guided tour of castle’s interiors, we’ll sit down for a lunch at 2pm in one of the unique local restaurants with great atmosphere and delicious Czech cuisine. Once fully recharged after the meal and perhaps even refreshed with a mug of excellent local beer, we will give you one hour just for yourself so you can commit a little shopping 🙂 or just to have a little walk on your own and soak up the energy of this place even deeper 😉

We will depart from Cesky Krumlov at around 4pm, so you will be back to your hotel at Prague at around 6pm… we believe happy and full of remarkable memories 😉

Please note that we are very flexible as with every of our tours. This is just the suggested itinerary from our side and all the sites listed are pretty optional, so for example if you don’t want to visit the Cesky Krumlov castle… it is absolutely fine 😉 Or maybe you’re not interested in a coffee stop or you would like to have something else for your lunch… fine too 😉 …we have always plan B, C or D in our pocket 🙂 You might be also interested to see some sites not mentioned here which is also fine as this is your day, you are on a private tour and we will always do our best to accommodate all your wishes – unless they’re unrealistic 🙂

If you’re interested to take the 55 minutes tour of the castle interiors, please let us know little bit in advance so we can send you a link where you can purchase your tickets online 😉

Please note also that the castle in Cesky Krumlov is closed on Mondays during the season and will be closed during an off season from November 1st until March 31st.
